Artist Statement

          As I live my life, I save memories of people and events that are significant to me. These memories are charged with emotions and carry moods of time passed, and that to me is more important than physical objects associated with memories.   

          When I start painting, I choose a memory that expresses the way I feel at a particular moment. I begin with realistically painting details of that memory. Some memories have lost their form due to the passage of time, but the emotion is still there. In cases like this, I start by painting what I do remember: color, light, shape, and form. Once this basic information is on the canvas, the image is taken to another level; it is intuitively abstracted, thereafter I consciously develop a picture that carries a mood of a particular period of my life and at the same time is aesthetically pleasing to a spectator.

          The viewer is invited to feel the moods behind my deeply personal, memory-based paintings that are charged with emotions.
